As well as providing a platform for experienced creatives to further their particular practice, we are very much about inspiring people to try new things.

For Xhibition, Lyndall Fitzgerald turned her hand to film making for the first time, taking as her subject local Moseley legend Pete the Feet – a warm and fascinating interviewee.

Her interview with Pete was shot by Ian McCormick and they edited it together – the results being shown on the Moseley Exchange building as part of the Xhbition event. Since then its finding a new life on the internet.

Nevermind the Bullring here’s Project X Presents

Many months after the idea was first suggested we are pleased to present our first video blog. This four minute film attempts to explain a bit more about Project X Presents by recycling a handful of recent flyers from events in Birmingham. It also involves a very sharp knife.

Thanks to Tony for the filming, Alan for the camera and Ant for doing the editing. Jamie Reid and Tony Hart also deserve a mention but you’ll have to watch it to find out why.

Vinyl fetishists can be assured that no Sex Pistols record sleeves were harmed during the making of this film.

It looks as though the search for our 2007 venue has ended with a great result.

For an event like ours where we are examining every way in which the audience will be affected by the experience, the venue is crucial.

What we tend to look for is something that is reasonably neutral – not a regular gig venue as this brings too many associations with it and means are audience are likely to come with a set of expectations tinged by their previous experience of that venue.

Video to be shown in Flatpack Film Festival

The video which you can view below is to be shown on the big screen as part of the Flatpack Festival run by the fine guys at the 7 Inch Cinema (an excellent regular night of movie shorts and music and a regular haunt of Project X Presents participants.

The showing will be between 3pm and 5pm on Friday 2nd February at the Island Bar in Birmingham City Centre.
