Aashiq al-Rasul
Aa’shiq Al Rasul are classically trained singers / percussionists who perform an impressive repertoire of contemporary / traditional nasheeds in Arabic, Urdu and English.
Their debut album ‘Blessed Mustafa’ received great critical acclaim and was soon followed by ‘Divine Lights’, the group’s excellent rendition of the Asma ul-Husna, or Beautiful Names of God. ‘The Chosen One’ went on to further develop their distinctive sound – a combination of rousing, powerful vocals backed by exciting live percussion.
Project X Presents welcome back Aa’shiq Al Rasul following their appearance at the 2007 show when they played with rock band Einstellung during a segue between stages that was one of the many highlights of that night.
The Aa’shiq Al Rasul/Einstellung collaboration is a fine example of the PXP ethos of artistic development in action. Who knows what show stopping moment they will pull out of the bag for the Digital Dystopia show but all those who were witness to the 2007 show can’t wait to see what they will add to the evening.
