2006 - Like Fxck

After over eighteen months preparation and planning, our first event - called Like Fxck in reference to its seemingly ambitious and improbable nature – took place in the Epic Skate Park in Birmingham on July 8th 2006.

A night to remember for the sell out audience featuring Reginald D Hunter, The Destroyers, Koala Grip and many, many more.

The full story of the development process that led to the staging of this show was documented in a programme broadcast during the Resonance 104.4FM Clear Spot. The show features music, personalities and locations from the Project X Presents story. The radio programme is an example of the Project X Presents ethos in action: its producer had no experience of radio prior to pitching the idea to Resonance. This is an unapologetic piece of PUNK ROCK RADIO. We strongly urge anyone who has found what they have read so far of interest to make a brew then sit back and listen to it.

The music was carefully chosen, sequenced and then segued to take the audience on a journey through the course of the event. Other elements such as lighting and performance were developed and integrated as the pace of the night climbed towards its peak.

In order to create an engaging and transformative experience, the show structure embraced three different themes: meditation, exploration and celebration. This meant that the audience was able to enjoy the early, low key, elements of the show in a gentle, focused way, before loosening up to the more energetic and exploratory elements, and finally letting it all hang out in the full on dance experience of the celebration section.

The show featured the trade mark Project X Presents mix of a innovative music from artists with backgrounds in Jazz, Classical, Minimalism, Experimental, Sonic Art, African, Ambient, Electronica, Funk and Hip Hop not to mention a set from Reginald D Hunter.
